Is the following a good squad composition:

x4 Infantry Beam Weapon Armor
x4 Infantry Beam Weapon Damage
x3 Infantry Beam Weapon Ranged

x2 Vehicle Explosive Weapon Armor
x2 Vehicle Explosive Weapon Damage
x1 Vehicle Explosive Weapon Ranged

x1 Tank Concussive Weapon Armor
x1 Tank Concussive Weapon Damage
x1 Tank Concussive Weapon Ranged

I personally like to stick with all one type of structure when building my squads. It is easier to keep track of what is in them if some of the units were to get killed.

For example: I would have a full squad of beam tanks. 3 Armor, 0 Damage, and 7 Range. Full squad of beam vehicles. 5 Armor, 0 Damage, and 10 Range. And a full squad of beam infantry. 10 Armor, 0 damage, and 20 range.

I don't like to do it that way, only because I want the "whole package" when I attack with just one squad. I don't mind the keeping track of- I'm the type of person who can keep track of things well. And what's with the 0 damage?

I would recomend less or no damadge units they are good near the start but after that they can be beaten easily, just by being outranged with not as much life as the armour class

your hurting yourself by having any damage units i takes 4 turns (most battles are over in 1 or 2 turns) in order for them to do more damage than a range unit so if you can afford them range armor is the way to go

Okay then.

x5 Infantry Beam Weapon Armor
x4 Infantry Beam Weapon Ranged

x3 Vehicle Explosive Weapon Armor
x3 Vehicle Explosive Weapon Ranged

x2 Tank Concussive Weapon Armor
x1 Tank Concussive Weapon Ranged

or should I flip the armor and ranged values?

Yea, you should have more Range than Armor.

Hah, my leader on Earth 3 had it wrong. He suggested 40% damage+armor, 20% ranged. Dang, I overloaded on damage units. :(
