I was thinking of getting an item once a day when you log in every 24 hours, probably to get a spinning chance of either 200, 500, 1000, and a small chance of 2500 gold, or anything similar to get a daily award.

This could be a good way to create more diversity amongst players, creating a build around random items, rather than everyone just creating a build around the best weapon of their level.
Although I think a random weapon or body-piece per day would be a bit much, maybe a random kit, much like how you get a random boost in the single player game.

I don't see the random credits-per-day idea working though, as you can quickly get that many credits by winning a few fights (or at higher levels, winning 1 fight).

Perhaps even if there were completely random (i.e. not in the shop) rare items with random (but better than buyable) stats (and that way, everyone would have a chance to use random items, not just those with lots of credits).
