I've been wanting to make some of my own sprites for quite a while now and I just couldn't start without telling you guys. I cannot make sprites purely from scratch however, but I am able to make some pretty cool combinations using the pre-existent ones.
This is the software which I currently use...
MS Paint
Say what you want about MS Paint, you have to agree that it's extremely user friendly and easy to use.
GIMP
I tend to only use GIMP at times where I need to do something which is just not possible in MS Paint. Like recolouring, which happens to be very easy to do. The problem that I find with GIMP is that it's too complex and I have a hard time understanding what most of the features are, let alone what they do!
There is just one thing though, I need your help. You see, how I do this is I print screen the sprites while in the shop and then I put them on MS Paint, which is where most of the editing happens. I have to then separate the image from the background, each individual pixel at a time (which is an extremely tedious and time consuming process) so that I can start with the fun part. I am aware that there is probably a better way of doing this through GIMP but because you have to know what everything does in order to fully utilise the program, I would most likely rage quit trying to understand how to do that.
Would it be possible for me to obtain a sprite sheet of every weapon and drone in the game, presumably one on a 0,0,0 RGB background? I understand that this is a big ask but it would really help me out a lot here.
Now I won't be making sprites until next month because I am currently grinding to my monthly target of 3,000,000 SuperMech Coins, which means that I won't have the time required to make them. Also, once I've created some, I'll showcase them in another post. Most of the sprites that I'll create will be drones. I might work my way up to torsos and legs later on, hopefully.
Feedback is much appreciated, thank you.
I don't think there is a sprite sheet of every item (at least yet...
), but if the programs you use are too hard to use, I would recommend something like photoshop, which is what I use for editing images/sprites.
