This is a semi-suggestion, really, but I thought the topic would fit better here. I have a serious problem with this weapon. I've yet to try it out, but I've seen it used against me countless times.

The problem I have with it is that it's much too random for this game. I've been playing this for about a month now, on and off, and from what I've gathered, Supermechs is a very precise game, where a single action point spent wrong can mean either defeat or victory. Given these conditions, it's to be expected that every item present in the game would be likewise - very precise.

The devs have accomplished this (more or less) with precise number values on resistances, health and only slight differences between min and max damages on any weapon. While personally, I would prefer to have an exact number on EVERY weapon (give it some thought; it's one of the reasons Starcraft was so perfectly balanced), I realize that's simply asking too much (that is, it requires a complete revamping of the balance system in place at the moment).

But, there is simply no excuse for that shotgun. Seriously, I see the appeal of a wildcard in most games, but this isn't one of those games. Having the outcome of a duel depend sometimes solely on a random number generator is just ridiculous. I've seen this happen multiple times; where my opponent hits me for 150 damage (which more or less means I can kiss that game goodbye) and immediately after that, I get paired up with the same opponent, but this time the shotgun hits me for 30. Instant loss for him.

tl;dr

For a game as precise as Supermechs, the Shotgun X is simply much too random.

Whenever I play against someone using a Shotgun, I too find it annoying when i have 150life, he has like 20, and he one shots me with his shotgun. However, I see the reason why the devs placed it in there. Without a "wild card" to add variety, the game can easily be monopolized. Someone can create a "perfect mech" and then it is all over for the rest of us.

But then all those manopolized mechs have to do is equip a shotgun X and chances are they'll win the majority of their game unless they luck out.

I don't see what your argument is. If they do equip it, the will sometimes have terrible luck, since that is always a possibility. So, they won't be able to win every single match they go up against. They won't be able to win every single match, so they are not monopolizing the game.

Add the body parts back to the game. So instead of 50-100 damage, you can get 50 damage to a certain weapon, 75 damage to legs, and 100 damage to torso like a percentage. If you get shot in the leg, it might not do a lot of damage to you, but it might either stun you or prevent you from moving. We can use the luck factor on that.
