Guys, in BD one of the biggest things to help you out, is making friends. There are far more benefits, to acting like a clown, and making a dozen friends, and 1 enemy, then there are to being serious, and making 1 friend, and a dozen enemies.

Everyone, im a joker. anyone who has ever seen me play, knows that. But by being a fun player, (especially since im not the strongest, or most active) i have so many more advantages, then i do disadvantages.

Heres an example, last era on e3 i just got in a war with the rank 10, they threatened to send the rank 1 after us. Upon doing so, i contacted a few of the friends i had made, in 2 of the top 5 alliances, and asked if they would back me up should the rank 1 come into this. They both agreed, and even began to move units into place should the rank 1 move in to attack me.

On top of the support of those 2 really strong alliances, i had a player who i talk with in the alliance i was fighting, sending me vital tactical info about his alliance. who was on, how many ships each of them had, what they used. etc. basically, betraying his own alliance to help me.

These are just a few of the advantages u gain from making friends. and trust me, being serious, doesnt work as well as cracking some jokes. It is especially helpful to those players (like me) who arn't a real powerhouse, or have the time to be on 24/7. it makes you worth having in an alliance, if you can make your alliance more friends, because you know, and have talked to, another top alliance's leader plenty of times before.

i have to say that making " Friends" isn't always good... Sometimes they will backstab you.

A true friend will never backstab you.

i guess. I still dont tell anyone my moves in BD. I did once.... Was attacked 8 times and lost maybe 300 units.

A reality friend will help you but a friend in BD,well not exactly.

Wow ur friend was a really good alliance member. Ratting out and giving you his alliance's info. If he sold out his alliance. He would probably sell u out just as fast.

Haven, i doubt he would. he's played with me for several eras, and we've been friends since i started. i like to believe that they wont backstab me, and so far, none have. his info was truthful, and a major help in the war. scans were basically useless, no need to waste energy when u got a guy telling you all your enemies info.

But im just saying, if you can make a few good friends, or even a bunch of regular friends, you got contacts. and they give u plenty of help.

Another example, on f6 a while back. i was in LIS, the rank 2 or 3, i cant remember, fighting the rank 3 or 4, JSF. well, the rank 1, GanG and a few of our "allies" RPDS, rank 5 i believe, and HT rank like 6 or whatever, we're all going to backstab us. from each of those alliances, 50 ticks prior to the actual back stab, i got messages from my friends, saying their alliance would attack us along with the others, so be ready. a 50 tick heads up, thats a huge advantage compared to it just happening with no warning.

So, another example of why having friends, is far more helpful then not having any. and remember, i mean friends, not allies.

Considering I was in GANG that era. How did that pay off?

Yes he would. Check out BO on M2. The who were almost garunteed a win were backstabbed by 3 players and one of them, the one who planned the entire thing had been playing with BOs leader for over 4 eras
