Today, Godaddy was hit with a denial of service attack which took it and most of the DNS data for the websites it hosts with it.

Not much is known about the motivation yet, or when Godaddy will be able to put things back to normal. The servers here are up, and everything seems intact. But anyone trying to navigate at all from Europe currently cannot, and I am getting reports of outages here in the states as well, but I am currently not having any issues. It is unknown exactly how many regions currently cannot connect to BattleDawn, as our DNS data is in fact, hosted by Godaddy.

Unfortunately, all we can do now is wait...

As many of you players are having problems logging into BD, there is a reason behind it! But never you fear, the admins have paused all ticks on all worlds, so no need to worry about your squads or colonies.

Anyway, Battledawn is hosted through Godaddy.com and recently, Anonymous has DDoS'd (Denial of Service attacked)

"One common method of attack involves saturating the target machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. Such attacks usually lead to a server overload. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by either forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consuming its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service or obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately."

(for those of you who are curious what that means.

So, anonymous has recently DDoS'd godaddy.com because of their support for the controversial bills SOPA and PIPA, hence rendering Most of the GoDaddy supported sites useless for now. But it is not permanent, so BD will be back up and running in a few hours, just sit tight and take a nap. I know I sure will

Has anyone actually reported that they could not connect to BD?

JAke, yes, alot of people actually. Like Seth said- most european players cannot at all, and some from the states.

Seth from California here. Ticks arny moving at all. I can log on and i get messages, but the game isnt progressing.

Yeah I read yours I didn't know if Seth was referring to other sited GoDaddy hosts maybe we weren't effected. But nawh we wouldn't be that lucky

That is on purpose. So ticks don't roll while people in Europe can't log in. It's only fair.
