Part III

Me love you long time if you read to here. Politics. The art of mudslinging. Smiley You're always right. But wait, I said up there no one is right. Huh.. When you have an enemy, you must make your enemy look hated. Why? Because now they can't really get many people to agree with them when you're sitting here blabbing about how they multi and cheat. Hey, maybe they do. But most of the time.. naaah. We like to make it that way. People don't like cheaters unless they're the ones cheating. So if you can make people agree your enemy is doing something way wrong, then they're not gonna band with your enemy. Simple logic. But that's only one side. You have to make yourself look good. The way of doing this is to make your enemy seem less believable, and shoot down their chances of making you look bad. Don't make it where it's " Well you're this. " " Well you're that. " " Well, you're worse. " " No you are. " Nothing gets done. Make your point so convincing, they can't refute it. Politics, is a double edged sword. You can kill with it, and you can get too killed with it. There's actually a point to where.. you've gone too far in politics and need to shut up. Usually this is when your alliance members go. " Oh God.. here he goes posting again T_T " Yeah, don't take it too far. Which brings us to Part IV

Got to say I entirely disagree with Part 3

A leader who is respectful to his enemy is a leader who is loved by all.

The leader that throws false accusations purely to incite hatred will soon find himself shot down and hated by even his own members.

I've seen it happen.

I see your point Routhy and it does happens most of the time, but a tactic is a tactic. Whats the objective? Win the round and destroy your enemys in the most simple terms for me.
So one of the ways that kenny is saying above has sense and its really useful , you might finish like he said " Politics, is a double edged sword. You can kill with it, and you can get too killed with it." So thats the little sacrifice you must do, but you dont need to be in good terms with your enemys just with your friends and thats all you need.

What YOU must understand unky is that if you don't treat your enemies with respect you abandon the chance of making them friends in another round. Enemies are people too, treat them how you wish to be treated.

To be sincere i dont have good experiences with my enemys and even worse when its communication with them , i rather speak with actions than words and thats why i will never be a leader because politics isnt for me.
Yes Threat is something hard and if possible not to do, because it just creates dissapointment and anger and many other things in the player.
But without it you will not have those times when you log in msn or pm to friends and say "Hey this guy sent me this message, its a threat" and laugh and laugh because its just silly and insane, more than a word that shouldnt be used its just depends on how you take it .
Obviously i know people just dont take it like a joke and get angry because its not nice but without it , we will kill the fun and the reasons to declare war. Well i also like the normal way of declaration of war but its just to simple and boring :)

Not only was the guide itself masterful but the following comments were full of insight and illuminating advice.

Great guide! ^_^ I like how this one shies away from pure game play objectives and focuses more on the abstract qualities and actions that make for a successful campaign experience in the game.

Well written, I hope more people read these

oh, typo in part III (I think)

You need to write a more detailed guide because I am annoyed by how many leaders there are on some worlds that have not even a minor inkling as to what to do.

I have joined top 20 clans with inactive members for 180+ hours.
I have joined top 20 clans that ask people to recruit troops, then no one does, not even the leader.
I have joined top 20 clans where the leader does not organize a combined defensive effort and leaves every member to fend for themselves.

These people are playing BD and showing other people how they waste their time doing dumb things. Now we have a whole bunch of these pointless clans and the truly decent ones are too rare to find and everyone joins them.

Please, please write a better guide. This isn't enough. Some people don't even know what relocation means, or why they should do it. This is the type of stuff that makes me want to quit BD.

A very insightful write up there Mel.

I will admit too, that Leading alliance is not what most think.
Unless you know people, GOOD people youve spent hours on the battlefield with.
You cant trust them.
It takes many rounds to iron out a good group of blokes to fight alongside.
even then, you can be betrayed as we all learnt in the past.
however, even when I was a leader, strength and power had nothing to do with the obediance of your members...

Courage and respect are.
Your members need to become like brothers to you, family.. You need to be ready to sacrafice yourself to save your member/s..

In the real world, If your commanding officer is a coward, your men lose respect and morale will drop.
If your Commander sets example of how to fight and stand your own, you become a mimic of his personality when your time in combat arrives.

Learn from your members, learn about their family, their history, become friends.
Your relationship doesnt need to be strictly gaming.
Ive had friends of the middle east call me up and chat to me, laugh with me and even some have come down here to Visit me and we have had a few beers.

thats the bond you need to be a good leader
