This is one of the most controversial topics in BattleDawn. In this, I will debate the pro's and cons of both and then I will let you decide which chassis is better.
Now I will give ample evidence that I promise has not been tampered with. I will try to avoid using my own opinion for the sake of creating a false idea. Now we will start with Damage

Now this build what is commonly used at the ratio 10/20
Such as twice as many damage per squad then defense, 10/20, 5/10 3/7
This is very effective and therefore it is used by some elite players. However, this is also know as the NEWB squad. They say that it would easily be crushed by range.

Actually when people gain a massive overhead, some switch to damage because it is much cheaper and that it can support Range very well.
Damage also has one more advantage, if it doesn't get killed by the second round, which in most battles it doesn't get killed so quickly, it starts dishing out more damage than range. It is more powerful than range at that point. So range would need overwhelming numbers to kill a decently sized force. Or at least suffer minimal losses.
ConsDamage, however nice it is, has some major disadvantages too. It attacks second, (unless it leveled up to the proper amount) and it often damaged the first round, too the point where Range can suffer the damage. It also, against large numbers of range, becomes obsolete, due to large damage input the first round, (if in massive battles).
Because in all battles, the round is never even. So if damage is placed in large amounts can be crushed easily with a nuke, making it very placid against sabotage, because it would get hit first by range killing them all.
