I think it could be brought back, with a lower reward and perhaps a cool title?

idk, it could attract more people, but I don't think we want to deal with the "omg i want that title, so i'll spam every thread i can find, even those that are 2 years old or even when I can only say hi" type of people.

CMoTM isn't a posting contest, if that is made clear and good examples of how to earn it are given, that should not be a problem.

not everyone will read the "making clear" post / thread, and not everyone those who read it will get it either
all they did is "try to be helpful" even though they aren't. This kind of member isn't really rare u know, I can list at least several that I believe fall into this category.
including my past self

including my past self You control what people know about CMoTM (and its existance) to begin with - as such you can fully control what that person is initially exposed to. Simply congratulating a CMoTM without calling for people to attempt to get it themselves, whilst pointing out how someone became CMoTM, could work in my opinion. I am more fond of less "forced" systems (simply occasionally making a thread thanking someone for their contributions, perhaps giving them a small token of gratitude along with it. Perhaps giving people who are active in a positive fashion custom titles that fit them), but I do believe CMoTM could work out. I don't think it'l single handedly drive forum activity, but I feel it is one of many ways in which you can make contributors feel valued and encourage others to look up to them, be more like them. Which I think is needed.
