can anyone tell me which is the best place to put my colony?

away from the pros if you're a noob in asia if you're a pro

no matter what map you are playing. Avoid center of map or biggest continent. Go for corners or small islands. But be careful try to see it should not be owned by any team. Some teams take the corners. Try to join a sub of powerful alliance or alliance itself. Read player made guides for further knowledge or join adopt newb center for full time mentor its free of charge use it.

I always prefer starting somewhere in either Asia or Australia if starting alone, as it's easiest to find an alliance there. As for Fantasy and Mars, I can't be sure as I don't play them much.
