This is (for now) unofficial and not mod-sponsored so this contest is kinda like for fun =3

anyway...

Animated Signature Contest

Basically the rules are this:

Make a signature, and it MUST be animated: any kind of animation will do.
1. For loading purposes, each sig must be no more that the usual 500 x 150, and the size must NOT exceed 1 MB.
2. His/her username/IGN MUST be inserted in the sig. No plagiarism.
3. Failure to comply will result in a loss by default.
In the first round, I will select a category. Okay, once the round starts, everyone will be given 1 week to make THE best sig you can make.
1. The cut-off time will ALWAYS be 7 days after the round has started. The only time this will be extended is that if the genre is hard, allowing only around 1 or 2 days of extension.
2. Failure to comply will result in a loss by default.
The judge will (by default) will be the one who gives the category. The judge CANNOT win that round, although he/she can post his own sig (for fun). The judge MUST give his/her criticism based on the following categories:
1. Animation
  -- is the animation properly looped? Is it catchy and/or appropriate? Is the animation logically consistent? (example: an animation of a running girl running through the sig then falling and looping it with the same girl walking is not logically consistent) (40 Points)
2. Design
  -- Is the design of the text inserted in the animation good? How about the background of the animation? (30 Points)
3. Appeal
  -- How does the animation appeal to you? Is it overall funny? Does it make you smile? (30 Points)
Whoever wins will be the next one to bring out the next category (and will be one of the judges)

(I know that it's hard to make animated sigs that REALLY shine =D )

Can't hurt to try right? Just get some sources then recycle the animation ^.^
then change the background or something -_-

Anyway, I might be extending the days needed to make a sig...maybe to 14 days? (to find time for an idea as well)

And also, help me TMOG in finding good Graphics designers out there. Don't tell me it's only the two of us who are -that- good? X_X

Whoever made Shion's signature I haven't seen in a while, and a guy named IQ seems to be pretty good, but I haven't seen him around.

If someone can suggest some good, free software to use to make an animation I make have a crack at it (although it WILL be awful)

Well I use Photoshop just to recycle some good animations. TMOG, what DO you use?

Also, joash, practice makes perfect. ^.^ and also use GIMP (Google it)

For now I'll be holding an Exhibition Contest, who's up for this theme (due for 7 days starting Sunday, Febuary 27, 2011)

This Exibition Contest is to encourage other graphics designers to join in.
I'll also be posting tutorials about making animated sigs soon. ^.^

I use GIMP 2.6 (free), it's great, you've all seen what I can do with it. It's quite easy to use. I've actually never used photoshop before, haven't even seen what it looks like. I don't really want to either, I'm perfectly fine with GIMP.
