See it would be a lot better and more organized if you would just make a new thread every week. I guarantee, after the first page or so this thread will be spammed like crazy.

But yep, this quote is pretty much common sense. If you know your own capabilities and limitations, and your enemy's capabilities and limitations, then you can exploit and manipulate factors to turn the tide to your favour.

However, how simple this phrase might be, it is actually hard to put this into practice. Unexpected twists can de-rail even the best-laid plans, so knowing your enemy (and yourself) is a never-ending process.

It's obvious it means know yourself and your opponent both physically and mentally. Knowing your rival's thoughts and tactics will definitely give you an upper edge, but it means nothing if you don't know yourself and how you will react to certain situations and vice versa.




What's really great to me about Sun Tzu is his teachings can be applied to life and love, not just war.
