Is it a OS problem? Slow hardware shouldn't stop Skype from working :(

The problem with this computer is you all no i have slow wifi do to hotel running of a one person link well the computer i am using is also crappy so the download times out and i have tried like six times but it just dos not work so i am stuck with no skype till i get another monitor witch will hopefuly be sometime tomorrow
