I think because, when you have units stationed on an outpost, and the owner changes alliance for example, your troops stay there. So if you attack you battle your units....

I am not sure if this is the right answer,i will try to find out, or wait for someone else to post too!

Did you attack an op that had your units on it?

Yea, but it was my outpost when my troops arrived. The ring around my squads were blue >_>.

Either way, this kind of stuff shouldn't happen.

I saw this before; here's Andrew's response on it.

Andrew wrote:
This actually isn't a bug. Any units on an outpost you don't own will defend it from any attacks. This change was made to the game due to the flaw of kicking out players from an alliance to save the rest of the alliance members' squads there.

Well I know that much.

What happened to me was that I owned an outpost with my units and an ex-alliance mate's units on it.
One of my returning squads attacked both me and the ex-alliance mate. After my ex-alliance mate's squads left the outpost that I still had owned, my 2nd returning squad (this is the picture I posted) attacked my defending troops as if I had sent an attack order on myself.
Both returning squads had the blue 'moving' status the last time I checked them.

I checked my event history and my outpost never changed ownership, I did however downgrade it from a gate and then raze it. Its cursed I say...

The first squad as you say, yes it should attack, because it had other units defending. But the second squad should not attack, if everything is as you say....since we are unsure of this,i will report to the admins, and we can wait for a reply...

Ok. First of all, thank you for reporting this. It is with the help of the players that we identify bugs that make it through our screening before update.

If you can help us recreate this it would be very helpful.

Were there any special circumstances in this scenario at all that you can think of offhand?

I believe I know why you attacked yourself multiple times, it has to do with downgrading and creating a camp. All camps when created become owned by the admin, thus it wasn't your outpost and your units attacked it when they arrived.

I'm discussing with the team now about revising the battle system so that when you attack a target that you or your alliance already have units on the allied units on the target regardless of owner will join your alliance's forces on the attacking side. I've received a lot of feedback from players about this and everyone I've talked to doesn't really understand why it's set up this way as it doesn't make logical sense that you'd fight your own units.

perhaps, if you are located on an OP, and you/your alliance does not own the OP, and you are attacking it, those units are exempt from the combat... so there is no bonus for you.. but if someone else attacks the OP, andyou have units on it, your units will defend.

So basically, if you attack the OP with your units on it, they have no effect..in all other cases, they defend.
