subs are useful. if there good they can be the turning point in a war. they only deprive you of conquers if you dont organise things right. if you both go on expansion then it takes half the time if there good because they can take an alliance and you can where otherwise you would have to do it one after another and you would lose more troops. if a sub is set up right it can be a massive advantage to the alliance.

The debate of subs assumes that most newbs read the forums which they don't.
As for a sub, yes...they do work and quite well. More people should use conquered subs. Most eras that I play a "feeder", I create a sub of people who want to war the whole way through. The best part is this allows me to go on killing sprees without needing to defend my colony.
In the end, BD is what the players want it to be and they decide by their actions. There will be subs for a long time to come and most of them suck.
