First of all, I would like to say this is not a rant or any sort of whining. In fact, I am sad I have to even make a topic about this.

Now, I would like to introduce myself, I am Gold, now Hoodie and I have been playing this game for 5 years on and off, recently returning from a 2 year break. I remembered BD as a friendly place where people came to have fun and meet other players. However, somewhere along the years, the game has changed. New changes caused increased the competitive nature of the game inducing rage. In the second era back. I ran into a few troubles with some vets in the game who blatantly insulted me in game for no reason. Even in Skype, 3 A.M., I get not only me but my alliance insulted. I was the leader and I made all diplomatic decisions, you can insult me and call me a backstabber; however, my team had nothing to do with it. Other insults that have nothing to do with the game that is just wrong. Hopefully, people can agree with me that yelling and swearing at a “child” will not solve any problems and will only make yourself look dumb.

Also, I’d like to point out that most conversations were with adults and vets of the game, which saddens me even more. With attitude's like these, no wonder the game is dying out. Less and less people are playing.

Throughout playing this game, I’ve always had a good time win or lose. In the past, even when my alliance gets flat out backstabbed, we laugh it off, work together, and try to win.

In fact, even now I am not having a bad time, I understand your rage but I would like you to take it somewhere else not on the game.

I would also like to say that the reason most people play this game, is to have a good time. However, in the thick of things, people forget that fact probably due to the competitive nature of the game. And that’s what I’d like to remind people, try to be nice in all situations. Everyone’s trying to enjoy this game.

I had to take out one of your screenies because there was quite some flaming in it. If you can censor it you can post it, but otherwise this could be seen as simply trying to evade the word filter - Milanos

Want to save these players some dignity, so I blacked out their names. :)

*Edit : Censored even more of it.

Please report messages like that to the admin in game, it is the only way that it can be taken care of. As for the other images I removed them, I know you said it is for a good cause but it really accomplishes nothing. Some people take the competitive nature of the game too far and that is regrettable but a post on the forums does not fix it. However when they do send messages like that to you be sure to report it to the admin in game so something can be done about it.

Well I didnt see the screeny before it was taken out by milan. I have had my fair share of people screaming their heads off at me in skype and ingame as well.

Actually this game got way less competive for a few years straight. I miss the days more people cared enough to make forum topics and carry long and deep hatred.

Power to emotion!

Aye, sure, competition on most world's decreased as a result of player's leaving. However, I believe competition on pro world's still remain intense, if not intenser.

umm there arent any thing called "pro" worlds if you're referring to e1, then the last 2 eras were rather dull and easy wins.

with most old alliances leaving the competition has dropped. and as Alex said :D having all the hate and emotion is fun  feels better to conquer someone you hate :3

Look, there always have been, and always will be an amount of 'immature' types roaming the game. Maybe you were just lucky and didn't encounter so many of them when you last played. No need to lose faith though, there are still plenty of honorable players around, you just may not have met them yet :)

You can't judge the whole community from one person's messages ;)

In my opinion, how you respond to situations like this, and in particular, people like this, that defines who we are as people and gamers.

Any online game you play is going to have undesirables, trolls and the like. Most games dont bother to even police for it. We at least strive for some sembelance of being civilised.

Anyway, my point is that the focus should not be on how much of a...whatever...someone else is being, but how you as a person respond to them. ;)
