i have to find out how many blocks are in the layers http://prntscr.com/1558e9
like that to find that out i have to use this http://prntscr.com/1558gp

but if i do that with 2 layers i get this
(2x2^3+3x2^2+2)

I get 5 >.> it suppose to be 4! only if i use layer i get the correct answer ? what am i doing wrong?

nmv anjou/rosa/unkown explained the formula count all the layes togheter not 1
to find out he blocks for 1 layer only u need to multy them like layer 5 has 25 blocks u need ot to do 5x5

= (2 * 8 + 3 * 4 + 2) / 6 = 78 / 6 = 13

to find the total blocks u have to add the number of blocks per layer

it's a square, so u will have n^2 blocks (with n is the layer index)

the total would be:

n^2 + (n - 1)^2 + (n - 2)^2 + ... + 2^2 + 1^2

hold on this thing gets super easy if the top layer has only 1 block and you know how many layer they are

How did you get 78?!?

= (2 * 8 + 3 * 4 + 2) / 6
= (　 16 +　 12 + 2) / 6
= (　　　　　　 30 ) / 6
= 5
