So can someone explain to me why damage units are so bad?

They have twice the damage capability of armor and still 75% of the armor... PLUS they have range of 2!

So wouldnt 1 damage unit be able to take out 3 armored units?

Armored 8/2 range 1
Damage is 6/6 range 2

So before armored even gets there they already take 6 damage, then it will take 3 more rounds for the armored to do enough damage to kill the damage unit... in that time the one damage unit can inflict 24 damage?

So why are they bad?

Damage Units arent bad when you know you will battle for more than 1 to x rounds against a enemy or enemys.

But if you use a full combination of ranged and armor units as many players do, the two possible scenarios are :
1) The damage units will not be able to even touch the other army because they all died in the first round against a ranged-armor combination. Why? Because sadly damage units attack in a second round.

2) If they ever survive to a second round there will be a little amount of them to deal damage and it will be covered by the armor from the other army. Which prevents them to have a great lose of metal/oil.

Obviously in an advanced round you will not only have 100 units, you will have more than that and mostly ranged units and it’s easy to kill a damage army without even losing a single unit.

So with a range of 2 how can an armored unit go first?

As you know Armors attack in a third round , they are just meat cannon to protect the ranged and damage units. The only way that the armor units can attack with the damage + ranged is when the battle will take more than 3 rounds(and if the armor survives for 3 rounds..) which its just a pain and silly to win a battle with so many loses.

So for example:
Your army is : damage + armor
Enemy : ranged + armor

Your army loses first armor and when all of your armor units dies then your damage units are affected.
In the enemy side the armor dies first and after that the ranged units.

As you see armor(big hp) is just a type of unit used to protect the most important type of units which are damage(medium hp) and ranged(low hp) units. Xd well if you have a armor army believe me you need to re-think about your strategy.

Infantry Armor will protect all infantry damage and range
Vehicle Armor will protect vehicle damage/range
Tanks will do the same, protect it's damage/range.

Explosive weapon units takes attack first, then beam, followed up by the concussive.

i use a range damage armour army.
if your going into a big engagement that you know will take more than 3 rounds and youve got enough armour damage win.
if you can kep them allive for 3 rounds they contribute more than range but if you dont have the armour then they suck ;p

It takes 4 rounds until damage units do more than range.

Take a tank for instance, look at the total damage done per round.

Range:
12 - 24 - 36 - 48

Damage:
0 - 18 - 36 - 54

As you can see, the damage unit only catches up on the 3rd round in damage, only doing more than the range unit on the 4th round. Not to sound arrogant, but if you let a battle take 4 rounds to finish, you didn't plan well enough. Damage units are worthless.

never fought an equal battle then?
and fine they catch up on the 3rd round but they have more health than range so they are better than raneg in a battle that lasts 3 or more rounds.
4 rouns isnt that long. if you put a firle man against a rifle man it last something like that so i would suspect if your armies are similar and no one could nuke or spy the battle then there would be more than 4 rounds.
you cant plan a battle when the attacker picks where he fight is going to be and if you dont have overwhelming unit numbers. you can just pile units in or let it go or raze ops or whatever ;p
