I'm not going to quit the game over some temporary issues with ad drops; that's a childish notion of an "unfair" world. However, I do have some data regarding ads that might help to suss out the problem or at least give credence to others claiming to suffer from the issue.
I usually play on my tablet and have never had a significant ad issue where it interfered with gameplay. I receive static or video ads periodically AFTER engagements with other players or campaign npcs.
I used 11 battle energy on my Windows 10 laptop today and only had three ads come up each with a different flavor.
Ad 1: I started a battle immediately after finishing a previous one - I had never before experienced premature adjack-ication. It hijacked 40 seconds of gameplay. Luckily, my laptop is oodles faster than my tablet, my opponent had the first move, and I made my two actions with 06 still on the clock, but it was scary to hear battle noise in the background at the same time as the ad. In fact, due to the terrifying anxiety, I can't even remember the content of the ad except that it was a video ad involving cold weather and snow.
Ad 2: I started a battle pretty much immediately after finishing a previous one; I was trying to replicate the error which is Debugging 101. In this instance, I think I probably had the first move, but I could not see nor hear what was happening. My opponent may have experienced the same thing because they quit and I received a victory star. I do not recall seeing the SM/EXP screen, just the star, so that corroborates with a fairly sudden quit. Maybe I just got lucky and my opponent quit right away when I should have lost due to premature adjack-ication. Another video ad I can't remember due to focusing on the possibility of losing due to an ad.
Ad 3: I waited a few seconds between battle energy at that point to see if maybe steamrolling through battle energy is the cause. In this instance, I saw the hourglass turnover and then out pops a static ad. This static ad had an automatic quit timer at the top and a friendly closing X in the top right. I remember this was an ad for a war game app. Not great or appealing, but at least I remember it. Once the ad auto closed, it turns out that the battle button had reverted to the green two men and crossed swords bathroom sign.
I think the third ad case may be the way ads are intended to work. By preventing me from starting a battle and forcing the ad, I still see the ad, but at least I don't hear a battle noises in the background causing me to sweat and afterwards I can carry on with my gameplay experience as normal. If they build in this function to the bathroom sign button and always cancel battle initiation (which can take 30 seconds of waiting sometimes, anyway) then the ads still get out there, users have no reason to be totally ballistic, and the experience is not altered significantly.
Just my two cents.
EDIT/ADD:
Ad 4: 12th Battle Energy of the night, finally got an ad after a battle. Nothing like watching an ad about picking yourself up after rejection to really sink into the brain after losing to a better equipped player. It was an ad about self publishing by Canon after a hopeful writer got rejected by publishers only to self-publish and break into the top 30 on the bestseller list.
Hello,
Thank you very much for this incredibly detailed report! Honestly, awesome!
I've forwarded it to the devs, this will hopefully help us fix this bug!
