Well guys... :|

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/facebo ... 0-6418540/

Oculus Rift is no more a gaming oriented platform, now it's a social platform.
Prepare for ads, your identity being sold for more money, getting spied on and your dreams of Virtual reality gaming crushed. But maybe im exagerating. So what do you guys think? Is this good or bad? Are you angry or happy? Give me your thoughs and opinions on this.

Spoiler:
At least we still have Sony's Proyect Morpheus :D

<Breaking News!>
(No Minecraft in Oculus anymore because of facebook)

I have enjoyed playing battle dawn over the last year (No I am not quitting :P) and it has been great getting to know everyone in the community. I've met a lot of amazing people whom I hope I will be able to keep in contact with over the years. However, one thing with playing games is that we often get disconnected from real life and forget the rules we need to abide by.

that was kind of random

Fine, I'll answer :P

I'm not quite sure how I feel about Facebook buying Oculus Rift. It's not really all that surprising they bought it, or that Oculus let them. I'm sure their funding just like, quadrupled because of it. With that being the case, it's a great opportunity for oculus to get more done and quicker. Buying out doesn't mean everything will change. Facebook bought it in order to profit off of it. Not to actually run it. But as you said, with this, also comes facebook's censorship and influence. There are those companies that won't invest in it now because facebook is involved, just as there are now likely some that will. But the overall big calls from the top are now different. Whereas Oculus Rift was originally made to take gaming to the next level, facebook's top priority is most likely to profit. So it'll really depend on how much the can profit from the aspect of advertising with it, etc. that will determine if such occurs.

BUT, oculus rift diving into the social aspect as well as from a gaming perspective could actually be kind of interesting. I'd imagine it to be something like google glasses, but with a bigger headset attached to your face :P

Of course, this wouldn't be intended for mobile use like google glasses was. But the potential is kind of cool to have a 3D social environment. AND at the same time.. could be horrible as social interaction would become even MORE distant than it currently is. I can see it now...

Why have real dates when you can have VIRTUAL DATES!!! (and of course, the avg. 5'7" male with acne and less than appealing features can now be 5'10" and look like an abercrombie model). Join now!
