The ladder supposedly reset yesterday and so far I am 40 wins and 20 losses. Why are there players with 0 wins and 0 losses still over me??? When I went to bed I had climbed from 7500rank to 4800 rank. I just logged on to fight more and I am now 9800 rank and the players around my rank have 0-3 wins.
THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!! What is going on? How does this work. Shouldt the people with 0 wins be tied for last place?

In addition to (and really, more importantly than) how much you win is who you beat and who you lose to. If your 40 wins and 20 losses all came against players ranked far below you this would generate a negative "score" for ladder ranking purposes. Therefore people who have 0 wins and 0 losses, and therefore a score of 0, actually have a higher score than you. If you now get one or two wins over players ranked higher than you (especially significantly higher than you) you will skyrocket up the rankings.
Hope this helps!

It doesn't help because all my wins are in the ladder with server selected opponents. Every win was against a player close to my level so how can I possibly have a negative rating? How can you control who you fight against? As you have explained it the only way to get a high rank would be to be super lucky with opponent selection. This seems BROKEN...
Every other game I have played with a ladder that is reset removes the names of everyone and only adds them back when the have their first match. As it is why is one player with a 0-0 rank 5000 and another with 0-0 rank 1500? This is ridiculous.
It looks like players kept their previous position in the rankings after reset and if this is true then new players will have to wade through 1000s of ranks over multiple resets to get to their natural position. A good way to help new players move along to another game if you ask me.

Ok guys, in case you failed to notice there is currently a 0-0 player in the top five and we are days into the reset. Your ladder reset is an Epic Fail untill 0-0s are purged every reset. It artificialy suppresses everyone so you can be fighting one of the best mechs in the game but they are only rank 6000 so you lose rank when you beat him if your only rank 1500. If a reset isnt a reset then why have a reset???
If they are not purged then at least have 0-0s at the very bottom, below even the people with more losses than wins or a 0-15 lol.

No there wasn't. Take a screenshot next time, it could be just a visual glitch. I can say with 100% certainty that there was not a 0/0 player in the top 5 players at any point yesterday.
Now if you were looking at clans that is certainly possible. Sometimes the usual 5th and 6th clans have negative scores so some 0/0 clans end up ahead of them.

Psyleck is absolut correct ...
new ranking system ...
- make top 3 clans will never change - support the players with best mythicals - support dirty gameplay (hunting players about you in ranking) - support to play NOT (if you have a good lead to others) - also the point giving system is totally unbalanced
... just some fact, of course the one, who influenced the developer about this, will not admit the truth, of course he talk against I told Liran many times, new ranking is AGAINST player base, it support only top-players, who have anyways most myths now. It really should be the other way around, because most of the top-players have already this huge advantage getting every week free myths, and that since years

I disagree to best with "dirty gameplay".
Changing your play style to better equip yourself against your opponents is not dirty. If players ahead of me are using god mode mechs, of course Im going to use something that can take heavy advantage of their negative resistances. That's just simple adaptation. Nothing dirty about changing your mech based on your probable opponents.
For Psyleck.
How long after each week reset are you talking about? Because the rankings are always screwed up for the first 48 hours. That's just the way it is.
If you lose to someone far worse than you, the game automatically assumes that you're a terrible player. From what this community has heard, the ranking system has a hidden point value for each player that severely punishes or rewards you based on how good you're opponent is in conjunction with how good you are.
Basically reiterating j^8 here, If I win against 20 noobs (say, +15 hidden points awarded per match), then lose to someone who's 8000 ranks below me (with a 0-0 record and 0 points for that week), the game will notice how much a gap there is between our point values, and subtract an extremely large amount of points from my total, possibly setting me to a negative value. This negative value can very easy set me below people who haven't even played a match yet.
