I don't intend for this post to become one about how we're destroying nature by deforestation, etc. We all know that's happening. What I want to talk about, is that we practically have a war against nature: we want to destroy nature as it is and create a new one, and in return nature is destroying what we need to live. Global warming, the lowering of consumable water, increasing storms, these are rather weak ways for nature to counter our aggresiveness towards it up to now, but it's going to get worse, by a factor people use to forget: we're a part of nature ourselves. Even if some of us are aware of nature's countermeasures, some don't and contribute to our own destruction at nature's hands. The problem is, this might actually be the right choice, so it is just a section of humanity waging war against all of nature, plus the rest of humanity.
This brings a moral debate as well: should we support nature or humanity? Should humanity be divided from nature, or are we just a very key part of it at this moment? And even if we support humanity vs nature, how can humanity win? Why? How do we decide? Can't we do both? How can we do that? Many questions, and that's what this thread is for.

Quote: we want to destroy nature as it is No one wants that.... so....? Quote: and in return nature is destroying what we need to live. Global warming, the lowering of consumable water, increasing storms, No, we're causing all of that. Nature isn't some sentient and powerful being or presence. It's just nature. That said, I do respect nature. Greatly. Nothing calms me more than nature in any form, a delicate flower, a newborn baby, an old tree, a lifeless mountaintop, you name it. I don't find a need to worry. It'll take a while to get there but eventually we'll catch on and start using renewable and clean energy sources.

this is not a war though... like dyl said, nature is not a powerful presence. It's just us killing ourselves by un-balancing the nature to satisfy our needs. We cut down trees for lumber without moderation, we burn down forests for lands, we kill wild animals for fun or for some unreal medical properties, not to mention the pollution we throw out to the nature in factories and un-mantenanced vehicles. Naturally, everything will come back right at us.
Ofc, ppl will be forced to use less poluted energy sources... but when? Will it be too late when it happens?

Yep. Nothing's better than sitting on a beach sipping lemonade with a 50 ft wave coming at you.

If its dropped on me then Id die immediately. If I am away from ground zero, then I might die slowly because of radiation poisoning. You said dropped on you.
