Anyone got any tips or advice that wouldn't exactly be common knowledge?

This is a useful trick to trap and kill forces attacking your colony, even if you are facing a larger force.

It is important to have an OP under your control with a spy on it in case your colony is being attacked. It can be a gate or a radar that you are willing to downgrade.

This is because if someone is attacking your colony and you want to trap and kill their forces without scaring them off by sending squads that they can see and then just turn back from. As even if your allies are ETA 2 from your colony and they launch EOT (end of tick), the enemy will still be able to spot them and turn back.

What you can do is downgrade the gate or radar, and then lock it down with your agent. You can then relocate your colony that is being attacked to the OP that is now locked down. If the attacker does not turn back, the next tick they will be stuck in the OP you switched your colony with.

Now this part is based on personal preference and style. If you or any of your allies have forces in the surrounding colonies (if you are in a hive), or any OPs that are near you, they should send them to your colony. Since the lockdown varies from 3-6 ticks in duration, you may or may not want to send your squads in EOT the same tick you lock down and relocate (LD&R). If the colony or OP is 2 ticks away, you can wait the tick after you LD&R and you will still have time to reach the enemies trapped troops at the minimum tick duration. If the colony or OP is 3 ticks away, you can send EOT and reach at min duration, or you can wait for the tick after and have a chance you're enemy gets away. This all depends on your team's coordination.

Now if your combined forces are smaller than your enemies', you can still take them out. Have your allies plant agents on the OP you are locking down, and if the enemy fall for the trap and are in the locked down OP, your allies' spies can poison them, based on what their troop comp is. BAM! You now have an enemy locked down and poisoned ripe for the taking!

It is imperative though that you lock down your op and relocate as close to the end of the tick as possible so the enemy doesn't see the trap and turn back. If they are halfway decent at all they will be refreshing consistently looking for traps.

What can you do to avoid this if you are attacking a colony? Either take every OP of the player you are attacking, or nuke every OP the player has within 6 ticks of landing at his/her colony.

Nice man thanks. This has certainly helped. I've never even heard of this being done. Thanks for the tip

This doesn't seem to be general knowledge, as I've not seen it used very often.

Another trick is if someone is attacking an OP of yours, you relocate a conquer to that OP, and attack the OP they launched from, trapping them.
