First off I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Harvester, part of the moderating staff here at Battle Dawn. I'm here to help and if you need anything you can either PM me through the forums or you can add my MSN at [email protected]. I hope you have a long stay at Battle Dawn!

Secondly, a list of guides can be found here:
viewforum.php?f=221

The guides at the link I provided for you should be sufficient for most of your questions. If you need anything else though, feel free to contact me with the methods I provided for you.

Thanks again,
Harvester

You know, I've been all over those guides myself, and searched other parts of the forum, and so far I haven't been able to find a good description of the *effect* of being conquered either. This is my first game and I haven't been conquered yet (that is not meant as an invitation!), so I have no idea how detrimental it is.
Thanks.

Being conquered, means a stronger player took over your colony, and you pay them tribute. Being conquered may seem like a bad thing, but it's a "right of passage" for newer players. Once conquered, that's when you can basically learn the effects of the game. How to best build squads, how and what structures to build when, etc. Plus, you can also learn other things like what units do damage to each other, how you get a crystal/relic, and what they do for you. You'll learn about how you gain power and score, and about alliances and getting into one.

There is an "Adopt-A-Newb" center where experienced vets teach newer players. You can find it here:

viewtopic.php?f=118&t=1036

all you need to do is fill all the required info, and an experienced player will be assigned to you to help you learn the basics of the game. If you have any questions, just send me a mail.

Remember: Obey the rules and have fun. You'll learn to love this game.

Yep, that's the extent of the information I found in the guides. And, sorry, but it wasn't what I was asking about.
What I've been trying to find out, from posts, guides, and experienced players, for a while now, is: what in game terms happens to the conquered. Does he lose the amount of tribute that I gain (as the conqueror)? Does he lose more productivity than that, or less? Does he lose the ability to build troops or buildings? Does he lose the ability to conquer other castles, or capture outposts?
What, exactly, are the detrimental effects of being in the conquered status?

By the way, thanks for your very quick response!

1. The conquered player has to pay his conqueror a certain percentage of the resources that he is producing every tick.

2. If you are conquered, you are still able to construct buildings and train units.

3. You are no longer capable of conquering other colonies, or castles on fantasy servers, while you are conquered. However, you are still allowed to take any outpost that you may see.

4. When you want to free your colony, there are three ways to go about this. You can either rebel from your conqueror, in which you have to wait 24 total ticks without producing any resources during this time. Or you could build units and conquer your conqueror. Or someone else could conquer your conqueror in turn freeing you. Once you are freed, you are able to be reconquered immediately so make sure you are able to defend yourself.

Perfect! Thank you so much for laying this out so clearly. I don't know why I've been unable to find it anywhere else.
This would be a great addition to one of the guides, or maybe part of a new guide on "Conquer/Conquered".

Crystals are items that you receive when your colony reaches a power level of 20. Everyone in the game receives one crystal, but you are able to take anyone's crystal.

Crystals give you a boost to your worker production. With one crystal you get a ONE worker boost. When you collect 25 more crystals, making you have 26 crystals, you get a TWO worker boost.

Also, each crystal gives you 25 points on your score.
