I'm just curious on what type of server system BD has running BD. People are always saying that the more players that play, the more resources used, and thus higher the cost for the servers... which must mean that they are either paying directly for RAM or bandwidth.
And, in hopes of not going a bit too far, can i ask about what BD uses on a monthly basis? (eg, RAM, bandwidth, costs, etc etc).. basically, your AWstats pageXD

Thanks,
EB

It's not something we give out specific details on and remember that players who don't know things but think they do love talking about stuff like this... ;).

We pay for bandwidth "tiers" but unless we add in an additional server box(Which is pretty rare, the game doesn't take a relatively massive amount of processing power for the amount of users; The last upgrade to our primary game server was late summer, '09) there is little change in our monthly costs. So yes the costs do increase as more users playing = more bandwidth used but it's a pretty minimal increase relative to the amount we're already paying. I won't give an exact cost for our servers but it's well into the thousands to run all of our servers for the game, backend systems and various other things that our programmers use for developing the game.

Hope that helps!
