you can use the gates of people in your alliance, but not the allies of the alliance

When you are at one gate, select a unit and then pick the other gate like you were going to have to fly there normally. Down by where it says how much wood, will be an option to teleport and how much mana it will take.

Sorry if the terms are a bit off -- I play on the fantasy world.
