if i recruit a unit with explosive weapons...will this unit ONLY engage hostile tanks? or will it also engage infantry and light vehicles?

i'm wondering if i have a squad, say 30 units with explosive weapons...will they be completely destroyed by only a few machine gun infantry?

or...if i have only beam weapon units...will they be destroyed by only a few explosive weapons?

All units will engage each other but when certain units are fighting each other, they have special attack modifiers. Beam weapons are good against vehicles, and explosive weapons are good against tanks.

To make it more clear

Conclusive = against infantry
Beam = against vehicles
Explosive = against tanks

now everykind of weapon deals damage to any unit,but if explosive hits infantry or vehicles then they do less damage than the ogirinal.So you have to plan your attacks carefully depending on what you have. :)

Concussive:
100% damage to infantry
50% damage to vehicles
25% damage to tanks

Beam:
100% damage to vehicles
50% damage to tanks
25% damage to infantry

Explosive:
100% damage to tanks
50% damage to infantry
25% damage to vehicles

Each weapon type will fire at whichever chassis it can do the most damage to (against infantry and vehicles, explosive units would fire at infantry first)
