Range is everything in this game, it decides the fate of a battle... even a war lol.
Ranged Units with max levels have +2 range in total of 5.. so meaning they can shred enemies even from afar. Back in F3, I had 3 max leveled up squads. Mind you even if they are all infantry with anti-infantry weapons, they were a beast at taking out tanks/monsters.
It really just depends on whom you are fighting, but mainly my team and I just go for cav on fantasy servers and infantry on mars. Dont ask why, idk as well.
