That, use nukes and spies whenever possible, include other teammates, make a couple squads of extra armor if you can, and more.

have an overwhelming army. And a good build might help.

have some damage units if u and the enemy have around the same amount of units

Damage is useful in any battle.

have a bigger army. outnumber them atleast 2 to 1

I'd recommend damage if the enemy has a ton of armor. Damage is more effective against armor than range is.

if u're having an overwhelming battle, 2 vs 1: 2 range 1 armor ratio

if u're having a close battle, 1 vs 1: 2 range 1 damage 1 armor ratio

so I recommend, using a normal 2 range : 1 armor ratio for each normal squads u use to conquer colonies around u. While having a full damage squad for each 3 normal squads mentioned for close battle against big alliances.
