A crystal about 4 eta has no units guarding it so I wait until the end of the tick to launch, in hopes no one else saw it. Now someone else launched before me but the reason I launched late was because i didn't want to bring attention to the xstal.
Is it sniping if I saw the xstal first but chose to delay, not to kill his units but to bring less attention to the xstal?

tbh the definition of sniping is different from ppl to ppl, and in my point of view, if u send after someone else, doesn't matter if u see it first or not, u're sniping.

to prevent sniping, send all ur available, nearby squads to him asap
then if u see none go with u, return all but enough squads to kill and take the crystals / conquer / wreckage...

if that wreckage or crystal is not worth it, u just have to send enough to beat the guy defending it... then use diplomacy to turn any other guys that send with the same ETA as u.

sniping is different to diffferent people.
some only consider it sniping if you kill their units
some if you launch at an earilier tick than them and so on

I would say it is sniping since we cannot know which one of you actually saw it first, maybe he saw it at the very beginning of the tick as well but he was waiting to avoid drawing attention as well. The only thing that can really show intent on taking something is launching at it. I personally refresh before and after I send an attack at a conquer/wreck/crystal and then I screen shot it for proof. If I then see someone snipe me I then send them a message a long with the screen shot, most people tend to turn away. Does not work 100% of the time but it works enough that I continue to do it.

The thing that i find useful is just to take screen shots and save them. I will always launch ASAP and take a screen shot of my squads. The best way is to take 2 screen shots. The first must include the loading screen, time and just a glimse of your squad attacking. The next screenshot must show after it refreshed and your squad is the only one attacking it. This way there is no way to doubt that you attacked first.
I know it may sound like a little bit of a pain, but with tools like LightShot it is actually ridiculously easy and painless to do it.
Thanks
