What came first the chicken or the egg?
Easy debate yet so difficult to explain and prove, don't bother posting if you're just going to say 1-2 words at least come up with scientific facts or what not. Can I get a poll added by the way to add to the excitement?

At some point in evolutionary history, there was two chicken-like creatures who mated, and produced an egg, which, inside contained something categorisable as a chicken. The egg then hatched into the chicken.
So, the egg came first

Maybe.. But doesn't it take hundreds of thousands of years for evolution to happen? Therefore wouldn't the fore fathers be considered chickens seeing as their offspring are born as chickens? Meaning chicken came first rather than the egg?
This topic truly is a thinker.

This topic truly is a thinker. Chicken is an name given to a organism with a certain set of characteristics. At some point, two non-chickens would have a chicken as offspring. So, no.

However though, we're related to monkeys or monkeys are related to us in the evolutionary process or what not we're considered primitive by scientists that have studied it so characteristics carry over and we're still classified as such.
Not sure how it goes either monkeys were once us or we were once monkeys it's a bunch of gibberish in my opinion.

We share a common ancestor with monkeys.

From a religious catholic standpoint: the chicken came first because it says in the bible that god made animals and let Adam name them (which implies that the chicken must have come first) From a scientific standpoint: I agree with Simmen, the egg definately came first because chickens evolved over time and through many species from dinosaurs (just like every other bird) and therefore some species that came directly before the chickens laid eggs that chickens hatched from
And as for monkeys and humans: we never were monkeys and monkeys were never us, we just evolved from monkeys

And as for monkeys and humans: we never were monkeys and monkeys were never us, we just evolved from monkeys well, i haven't really posted yet =P but i think the egg came first, for the obvious reason that the chicken had to come from somewhere. which is probably 2 different birds that are some how related to chickens.
