Spam has been pretty much dead since around christmas of last year, but why is that? in previous years it would pick right back up about mid-january. nothing really changed content wise during that time, so i don't really understand why it just decided to fall flat on it's face and not get back up.

my reason for making this topic is to:
#1, find out what went wrong, and fix it to return spam to it's former glory and
#2, help recover some stuff to update the history.

It's probably because we don't have an influx of new spammers.

It's inevitable that some members would quit cus of RL sooner or later....

I blame obama.

But in all seriousness, there are a number of issues.

-There doesn't seem to be an appropriate place for non-spam (so when someone makes a serious topic, instead of getting serious answers, it just gets spammed, and people give up making quality topics anymore.

-The forum layout wrong. There are basically 2 spam sections (spam, and off topic), and several non-BD areas are within the BD sub-forum area.

-The forum seems (although, I can't confirm this without hacking the forum :roll:

) to be running on an old phpBB (2007/8 I think), and updating to the most recent version would fix some issues.

Also, at the moment, it seems the WKRH is the only thing keeping the spam section alive, but even that is slowly dyeing because of bad management

Also, I think we need some hot girls in here, that would probably increase posting

Also, those 'anouncements' at the top of every single page, they're annoying, get rid of them

I would agree, its more than likely the forum layout. Its not very appealing to those who have used other websites forums before and know what they like. :lol:

having 2 spams wasn't an issue until sometime this summer iirc, but off topic and spam still need to be combined. there was a suggestion up for that...

agree, this problem has started before spam was even renamed into off-topic. But just to add, there are 3. Off-topic, SM Spam, and the Spam that we are posting in right now.
